Week 8

The 2-month checkup and first shots usually land around now. A fever afterward is the vaccine working, not a problem.

Trust the worry. None of this is an overreaction.

A temperature of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher, rectally, in a baby under 3 months — call even right after vaccines.
A fever after vaccination that lasts more than a couple of days, or a very high fever.
Fewer than six wet diapers in a day, or refusing several feeds in a row.
Fast breathing, grunting, or the skin pulling in under or between the ribs with each breath.
Floppy, unusually hard to wake, inconsolable crying for an extended period, or a cry that sounds nothing like theirs.
No smiling at all and little interest in faces by 8 weeks.
