Day 43 – 49 · one-glance sheet

Week 7

For most families, the crying starts to loosen its grip this week. Tummy time is doing more than it looks like.

Just these three, this week

  1. 1
    Feeding on demand
Typically 7–8 times in 24 hours as stretches between feeds lengthen slightly.
  2. 2
    On the back
On a firm flat surface, in their own clear sleep space.
  3. 3
A flat mat or floor space for daily tummy time
Ideally after a diaper change or nap.

Trust the worry. None of this is an overreaction.

  • A temperature of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher, rectally, in a baby under 3 months.
  • Fewer than six wet diapers in a day, or refusing several feeds in a row.
  • Fast breathing, grunting, or the skin pulling in under or between the ribs with each breath.
  • Floppy, unusually hard to wake, or a cry that sounds nothing like theirs.
  • No smiling at all and little interest in faces by 8 weeks — worth mentioning at the next visit.
