  • A temperature above 104°F (40°C) repeatedly, at any age.
  • Signs of dehydration: dry mouth, no tears when crying, noticeably fewer wet diapers, or unusual drowsiness.
  • No attempt to stand, cruise, or bear weight on their legs by now.
  • No babbling, no words at all, and no response to their name being called.
  • A fall or injury followed by vomiting, loss of consciousness, or not using an arm or leg normally.
